This song is not particularly hopeful but it is extremely honest. These are the kinds of songs I am drawn to for some reason. The imagery in the last stanza is so gripping and familiar that I just had to sing it. The burning desire to be “made right” is found in each of us in one form or another but feels so elusive doesn’t it?
This recording is low quality (as most of our live stuff is) but seemed secondary to the content. We hope you agree.

We originally posted this song in June of 2009 as part of our song a week project.  Martin Luther King Jr. was such a powerful orator and his words still carry as much impact today.

We had a really nice time back out at the stone barn.  We spent some time writing, dreaming, and a little bit of recording.  Last night about 10:30 we decided to record a cover and post it on youtube… and the video is really awkward.  So you can look forward to that!  In the meantime enjoy our cover of Sara Bareilles’ Love Song.

For our fourth song of the month we covered “You Found Me” by the Fray.  Its another one take wonder by Patrick and he put down a great vocal.  I found this little blurb that supposedly is from the Fray’s blog that explains the meaning of “You Found Me” but couldn’t find it on the Fray’s site so take it with a grain of salt.

“You Found Me is a tough song for me. Its about the disappointment, the heart ache, the let down that comes with life. Sometimes you’re let down, sometimes you’re the one who lets someone else down. It gets hard to know who you can trust, who you can count on. This song came out of a tough time, and I’m still right in the thick of it. There’s some difficult circumstances my family and friends have been going through over the past year or so and can be overwhelming. It wears on me. It demands so much of my faith to keep believing, keep hoping in the unseen. Sometimes the tunnel has a light at the end, but usually they just look black as night. This song is about that feeling, and the hope that I still have, buried deep in my chest.”

Hellllo February.  I don’t know about you all but I’m ready to be done with winter.  One of my favorite things about Kansas is that we get all four seasons.  But winter this year has been brutal!  Like a lot of our songs this one is a little bit depressing and a little bit hopeful.  Its how we roll…

“Daybreak” has nice mix of electronic, effected, and natural sounds.  Makes kind of a neat soundscape.
