I don’t know what we expected when we first started up this song a week thing. Our “side project” to Moving Rushmore quickly became the “main project”. Now 52 songs later here we are. Its been an awesome experience and its really neat to look back over the past year and see/hear the progression of our music. Although there was the occasional mediocre song, for the majority of the time we put out some pretty cool stuff. I know that I can look back with a sense of pride over what we’ve accomplished in the past year.
We’re really grateful to all of you that have told your friends about us, bought our music, blogged about us, came to our shows, and enjoyed our music. Just because we’re done with the song a week doesn’t mean that we’re done making music. You could say that we’ve only just begun…
If you’ve enjoyed this song a week project and want to keep up with us, this would be a great time to sign up for our e-mail list, follow us on twitter, sign up for our podcast and/or friend us on facebook. We’re still going to be active so if you want to know what we’re up to then those are some good ways to keep in touch.

Can’t believe we’re only a few days away from FINISHING our song a week project. Patrick and I got together yesterday to plot out some of our next steps and I’m excited about what’s just around the corner. Can’t tell you just yet though! But in the meantime I thought I’d post a sneak peek of our last song in the song a week project. Still a lot of work left on it, but here’s a little sample.

Quick note: Next week is our LAST song in our song a week project! Stay tuned!
This last week I was listening to science Friday on NPR and there was a professor being interviewed about his idea to send astronauts on a one-way mission to mars. He was talking about how much money we would save if we didn’t have to worry about the trip back home. He said, “To boldly go where no one has gone before does not require coming home again.”
This got me thinking. Can you imagine what Neil Armstrong and Edwin Aldrin were thinking being the very first people to step foot on the moon. Outside of educated guesses they had no idea what would come of them when they opened that hatch.
As I searched the web for some audio clips to use for this song, I came across this speech that was revealed in 1999. It was to be used in the event of a disaster that would maroon the astronauts on the moon.

So I’m a little late to the game here, but I’ve just discovered iMixes on iTunes. With iTunes 9 they are a little more difficult to find (allllll the way at the bottom right in the music section) but its still a cool way to find new music. If you know me, you know that I’m a music junkie so I thought this would be a fun way to find/share some cool tunes.
Here’s how it works:
1. You need an itunes account ( who doesn’t these days? )
2. You make a regular ol playlist in itunes
3. With your playlist selected, go up to the menu bar and click “store> create an imix”
Piece of cake! I’ve got an itunes gift card burning a whole in my pocket so once your imix is added to the itunes store, feel free to post a link to it in the comments. Bonus points for slipping a 2SA song in there somewhere

Well here we are #50! Pretty crazy! We only have 2 more songs to go before we have done this song a week thing for a whole stinkin’ year! We’re pretty stoked. We set out to do this for 6 months but kept going.
Tim sent over the keyboard and rhythm tracks and I went to work Saturday putting words and a melody to it. It was a lot of fun to write lyrically. What do you think it’s about?
PS Today is the last day to try to win a free Tee.
