Who’s Gonna Love Her? SOTW #32
May 3, 2009 | Song of the Week
This week we went a little more rock and roll. We started things off on Tuesday with a little music sample and asked you all for input on the song. We chose the topic of justice because Patrick was reading a book on the subject and thought it could be a good theme. Thanks to Lisa, Jeremy, Carolyn, Chris, and Katie for your ideas! We used those suggestions to help shape our song. Justice in itself is a little bit abstract, so we tried to personalize it and this is what came of it. Enjoy!

Who’s Gonna Love Her
lyrics by Patrick Largen and Tim Seley
Thirteen and all alone
Her parents gone nowhere to go
The city’s dark, the nights are cold
She’s dying
Who’s gonna love her
Who’s gonna break her
Who’s gonna take her
Who’s gonna save her
Who’s gonna love her
No food to call her own
And no one there to hear her moan
They like her weak and showing bone
She’s starving
Who cares there’s no one there
To see her cry it’s so unfair
Will anybody help
or keep denying
Does she have so little because I have so much
One slave is a tragedy a million is unjust
And all it takes are good men to do nothing

Wow… I never thought I could be so heartbroken and honored and full-on rocking out all at the same time.
I don’t know whether to laugh or cry, but I LOVE THIS.

I love it when a song sounds better loud than it does quiet, and this one definitely qualifies. Really solid song guys.
Also, the opening rhythm reminded me of this: http://hypem.com/#/track/718548/LCD+Soundsystem+-+Big+Ideas (which is a very, very good thing).
Thanks for all the nice comments people! Glad you all enjoyed it. Good stuff to see Kyle
. And thanks for all the twitter love.
I can think of half a dozen humanitarian groups that would love to use this song for promo stuff.
ALL are welcome. I sent an email to IJM a few days ago. We would love it if it was used for good!
