We’re always open to suggestions for our songs. Thanks again to Tyler, John, Kyle and Lisa for the ideas and input last week for “A Waste.” This week we’re a little more ahead of the curve so we’d love some help. In order to keep everyone on the same page we decided on a theme or direction for this song. We’d like the topic to be along the lines of social justice and the moral obligation to help those in need. Post your ideas / thoughts / suggestions in the comments. They can be lyrical in nature or more of just general ramblings.
So just to get things rolling… what do you think of when you think of injustice?

“The unexamined life isn’t worth living” – Socrates I was reading a great book the other day (The Artist Way by Julia Cameron, which I think is out of print so if you see it at a used book store BUY it!!!) and she countered this Socrates quote with, “the examined life unlived isn’t worth living.” I think this is so true and I tend to be one or the other. I either focus too much on reflection, and fail to truly live, or live too much in the moment, and fail to reflect. Both extremes are safer. The amazing artwork is a Jeff Moore original, and the model is my beautiful wife!!! Also earlier this week I sent out a message asking for help with a line in the song. Shout out to Tyler, John, Kyle and Lisa for your help! Read the rest of this entry »

Happy Earth Day everyone! You owe it to yourself to listen to this song at least 15 times… and tell your friends… and make it your ring tone. You’re welcome. And yes I do know the person that recorded this and yes I do wish it had been us.

We felt it was time for a cover and it just so happens I got an email this week from a friend who suggested this one (thanks Tony!) “Falling Slowly” was in a little no budget independent film called “Once,” which Tim and I are both fans of.
Sometimes we’ll do a cover because we have a different interpretation of the song and feel like we can improve on it in some way. That is definitely not the case for this one. I mean seriously it’s Glen Hansard!!! We just wanted to do this song because we like it so much.
Read on for the lyrics and other stuff…

This week’s “Sneak Peek Song of the Week” is a cover of “Falling Slowly,” by Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova. (A song on the sound track for the movie Once.) Shout out to Tony for suggesting it!

In this commentary we liken our music to the weather in Kansas. Listen to find out what I mean.
The creaking noise you hear is people walking upstairs. Just adds to the “transparent” feel, right???
