A 2sa Request

priddles

We’ve got a request for those of you that make New Music Monday a regular stop.  You might have noticed little icons at the bottom of each of our posts.  They are all links to different social networking/news sites.  A couple of these sites provide cool ways to share interesting sites (cough cough newmusicmonday.com cough) with other people.  Digg and Stumbleupon are two of our favorites.

So what are we requesting? Its pretty simple.  If you like the latest song of the week or video, just click those little icons while you’re listening to the latest release. It does take a minute or so to sign up for an account, but after that it only takes a few seconds of your time, and can significantly help us out.  We’re really grateful for those of you that come here regularly and we enjoy reading your comments and connecting with you.  So if you’re currently a “lurker” feel free to take a second and say hi!

Song o the week Sneak

It’s Friday!  And we’ve got a little treat to tide you over for the weekend until Monday.  That’s right we might actually have a song done BEFORE Sunday night.  And its not a cover!  This could be our favorite song that we’ve recorded so far and we are so excited that we couldn’t wait to share it.  Come back Monday for the full thing!

Well, it’s week number two of covers for New Music Monday. Some of you are probably thinking “Awesome! I love Ben Harper.”  Others of you might be saying “COME ON!!!”  Our excuse…Let’s just say it was a busy week.  This here is a tune written by one of my favorite artists, Ben Harper.  We hope you like it.

This is our first GRAMMY NOMINATED song.  We also didn’t write it, which is too bad, because it’d be pretty cool to have a grammy this quickly into our latest musical endeavor.  That’s right folks, its our first cover song, unless you count Christmas, which we don’t.  This song was originally by a band called One Republic, and then redone by a band called One Republic and Timbaland and now redone by two seconds away.  Let us know what you think!  Now that we’ve got newmusicmonday.com setup in a blog format it makes commenting way cooler and easier… and we love our comments.

a good ending

Mandy and I just got back from Wichita. Yesterday was Cora’s funeral. It was a very emotional experience for the hundreds of people that turned out to show their support of the family. After it was all said and done Mandy and I had to run back to the church to grab some items that had been left for the family. On our way back out to their house this accompanied us on the drive…

My little camera phone doesn’t do it justice.  It was a beautiful ending to the day.  We’ll see you on the other side Cora.

Lullaby for Cora (SOTW #20)

Baby Cora (3/5/08 - 2/8/09)

Baby Cora (3/5/08 - 2/8/09)

We have some good friends whose 10 month old daughter Cora was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer two weeks ago. Its been a roller coaster of emotions for the family. This morning we awoke to a voice mail that little Cora passed away late last night. We had another song ready for this week, but I really felt the urge to write a song for Cora this morning. I hope you enjoy it Cora.

Update for Twestival on February 12th

Kyle Blake

Kyle Blake

We’re excited to let you all know that Kyle Blake will also be performing with us at the Twestival taking place on February 12th.  For those that don’t know what Twestival is:

On 12 February 2009 175+ cities around the world will be hosting Twestivals which bring together Twitter communities for an evening of fun and to raise money and awareness for charity: water.

For more info about the local Kansas City Twestival visit their site http://kansascity.twestival.com/

So things look a little different…

We’ve finally started up a blog! And in the process we’ve shifted things around a bit. I’m sure things will be a little rough around the edges for awhile (when are they not though) but with this new format we’ll be able to update the site much more frequently and easily. And for the handful of RSS users out there using wordpress should make adding newmusicmonday.com to your google reader that much easier! Thanks for being patient as we iron out some (but probably not all) of the kinks.
