Each song so far has been…  different, which has made this process really fun.  This song is no exception.

A couple weeks ago Tim was working on a different song and recorded all of the random percussion (whisk, wooden spoons, acoustic guitar drum thing) for it.  That song was scratched because it wasn’t taking shape very well, but Patrick had been working on a separate song independently, which happened to have the same tempo as the first.  So we pieced them both together and videoed the process. Enjoy!

We are gearing up for Christmas, and that means Christmas songs!!! We’re curious if there are any songs in particular that you think would be fun for us to record. Click here to see what people suggested.

This week’s song is a little like a painting… I’m not a painter (although I would love to be at some point) but I imagine there are times when a painter sets out to paint, completely unaware of what will materialize and with no known direction. Standing back observing what is created the painter learns something of themselves as the art they have created begs questions. This is where I am left.

This week we get a little Emo… hence the song title “A Feeling.” I’m excited about this week because this is the first time we’ve busted out the distortion AND the first time we’ve had keys in a recording. Keys as in keyboard. We’ve already used car keys. Its also the first song my wife really hasn’t enjoyed, but in this case I’m ok with that.

Interacting with grace-giving people is like a breath of fresh air. These are the kind of people that really believe the best in you; the kind who want to take the pain away; the kind who really listen- and you can see it on their face- as they experience the tough times with you. Being with these kind of people is like getting a break from life.

For me, this person is my wife. She gives me a break from life. For me this feels like driving down a winding road, near the ocean on a sunny fall day, with the top down.
I want to be that kind of person because everyone needs a break from life.

Incredible is one of the most cooperative songs we’ve written yet. Most of the songs to this point have been done in relative isolation. I might write the lyrics and Pack does the music, or we might do almost a whole song on our own. This time we sat down using the comic to the right as our inspiration and went from there. Thanks to Nic Kline for his awesome artwork! (his website)

This is my favorite comic that Nic has done. I love the imagery of the tiny little stick figure looking anything but incredible. For some reason I can really relate. The song that came out is a little different than our previous stuff, but it might be my favorite so far.
