About a year ago, my wife and I were sitting in Bluestem Bistro (let’s hear a shout-out if you love Manhattan, KS!) enjoying the artwork on the wall when this photo captured our attention. Over multiple cups of coffee we talked about how this photo speaks of the journey of discovering who we really are and choosing to live out of that place, verses living out of who others say we should be. (She loved this photo so much I bought it for her as an anniversary gift.) We dreamed of a day when we wouldn’t conform to other peoples’ expectations, out of a fear of pain, but boldly be ourselves.

This conversation has rung in my ears since then and I was reflecting on how I so easily revert back to old ways of living… And how I’m so grateful to have her by my side through all of it.

Well… It didn’t bomb! In fact it went rather well. We’ve joked about naming our band “2 seconds from a train wreck” because we are looping multiple things live and the potential for disaster looms. BUT we are glad to announce that our first show was a success. Sydney (Patrick’s 5 yr old daughter) may have been the star of the night as she went around giving everyone MULTIPLE bumper stickers.
