"Don't Leave "
About a month ago I was thinking about the loneliness of being left. It can happen in many different ways, but there was one particular person that I was thinking about, and the music kind of came out of what I imagined their experience of being left to be like. It was a surprisingly emotional experience for me. It's not very poetic. Just simple and honest. This is also the first song that I sing on. We recorded this one out at the stone barn (see stone barn video) and there are lots of interesting textures in the background. Some things like the chiming wine glass were intentional, but other things like the crackling fireplace were not, (although we really like the effect.)
