Song of the Week
October 13, 2008
"Small Thing " The lyrics for this week's song were actually written by our super talented friend Jason Graves. He was a member of our other band, Moving Rushmore. We asked Jason to do a brief write up and here's what he had to say: "It's no small thing is a song that expresses how hard it is for me (and most other people) to actually feel the pain and emotion that resides in my heart instead of living and pretending like everything is perfect all the time. In my experience, feeling that pain has always led to disruption and change that hasn't been easy, but has ultimately changed me for the better. The hardest part about meeting pain in my life is that I feel alone. One of the most encouraging things about this song is that it reminds me that I am not the only one. Every single person has hurts and painful experiences that have shaped who they are and in this sense we're all in it together. It's very easy for me to get tied up and shut down inside when I don't feel or take time to express to someone else what's going on in my life. So I hope this song connects with that often felt desire each one of us has to be real and honest about the reality of what we feel, but so often suppress because of fear."
